Payam Karamooz’s comedy career started at Lewis & Clark College in
Portland, Oregon. He began performing Improv around the Portland area with
friends on the weekends. Soon after, he was recruited to tour with an Improv
group called, “The Kate Mackey Experience”. After graduating college with a
degree in Biology and Minor in Chemistry, Payam decided to use his $100,000
pieces of paper for the good of mankind. He began pursuing standup comedy.
Since 1998 Payam has been humiliating himself on stage, TV, film, internet and
any other media outlet he could find. He has performed at numerous comedy
clubs, fund raising events, and corporate venues. Payam’s Improv experience
allows him to veer in and out of pre-written material while interacting with
audience members, making them feel like a part of the show.
Payam has been seen on shows like “24”, “Dexter”, and "MAD TV". He has
also played in movies such as American Dreamz with Hugh Grant, and Caught
In The Act with Patty Duke. In addition, Payam has been predominantly seen in
print ads for Intel and The MGM Grand Hotel, Las Vegas. Most recently he has
won the “A.M. Northwest” Comedy Competition in Portland, OR; was a finalist
in the California Comedy Competition in Palm Springs; and in March of 2007
Payam had the #1 sketch comedy video, "Osama's Auto Wholesale" on
MySpace.
Whether Payam is playing a terrorist, mental patient, or flamboyant stock
room boy in front of the camera; or delivering his standup material while
improvising to a live crowd; he is always spontaneously entertaining!
